Wills and Bequests

Your will is an important part of your estate plan. It provides a flexible planning tool for fulfilling personal wishes, and it benefits SDSM&T.

You determine to whom, how and when your property will be distributed.

You designate a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate or the balance of your estate after other bequests (residual amount).

You determine if your bequest is to be unrestricted which permits the SDSM&T Foundation to make the decision as to the best use of your bequest to further assist the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, or you may wish to restrict your bequest, i.e. to a scholarship fund, a departmental assistance account, etc.

Bequests to SDSM&T may be directed to the "SDSM&T Foundation" which will assist the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. The SDSM&T Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and your bequest will be tax deductible.

A charitable bequest can be tailored to almost any set of circumstances, and it provides a 100% deduction for estate tax purposes.

We recommend you consult your attorney.

Send me additional information on estate planning and/or suggestions as to the use of my bequest.
